This past week, I worked with a student on developing mental maths skills, and it was a fascinating process of speed, accuracy, and strategic thinking. Mental maths is more than just quick calculations—it’s about sharpening the mind, recognizing patterns, and improving problem-solving efficiency. We practiced different techniques, from estimating answers to spotting shortcuts that simplify calculations. With each exercise, the student gained confidence in tackling numbers without relying on written methods, making everyday maths feel more natural and intuitive. It was inspiring to see how small adjustments in approach led to significant improvements in speed and accuracy. Discovery Learning is about equipping students with practical tools that empower them in real-world situations. Strong mental maths skills enhance logical thinking and help learners approach numbers with confidence—something that benefits them far beyond the classroom. Looking forward to more breakthroughs ahead!
