A Grammar Journey with DLFA This week, I had the opportunity to work closely with a student on grammar correction, and it reaffirmed how transformative personalized learning can be—especially when it comes to language. Grammar, much like mathematics, can feel rigid and overwhelming at first glance. But as we began to unpack the student’s writing habits and patterns, it became clear that the key wasn’t just in pointing out errors—it was in helping them understand the logic behind the rules.
We started by identifying recurring issues in their sentence structure and punctuation, then built a tailored correction strategy that emphasized clarity and rhythm. Rather than drilling grammar rules in isolation, we used excerpts from their own writing to guide the sessions. This made the learning feel relevant and empowering.
