This week at DLFA, the spotlight turned to fractions—those tricky slices of wholes that often confuse learners until the logic clicks. The session focused on understanding equivalence, comparison, and simplification, using hands-on visuals and relatable examples.
 Instead of diving into abstract rules, the lesson began with food: pizzas, chocolate bars, and juice bottles. These everyday items helped the student visualize halves, quarters, and thirds in action. From there, the concept of equivalent fractions emerged naturally—two-fourths became one-half, and the “why” behind it made sense.
 The student practiced simplifying fractions, comparing sizes, and even converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions. A highlight came during a fraction matching game, where speed and accuracy revealed just how much confidence had grown.
 DLFA’s approach to math is rooted in clarity and connection. When students see fractions not as numbers on a page but as parts of something real, understanding deepens—and learning sticks.
